Website Analytics Automation Pipeline Deployed for Content Tracking

A new automated analytics system has been implemented to monitor website content performance. The pipeline replaces manual data exports with scheduled weekly reporting.

The development workflow began with a planning phase using Claude to map the data integration structure. Google Search Console and Google Sheets were connected through a Google Cloud service account API, while PostHog access was configured using a dedicated API key with query permissions. The resulting script runs locally on a Mac, scheduled to execute every Monday at 09:00. The system is designed to trigger the script upon the first startup if the machine is powered down at the scheduled time.

Report Output and Implementation Timeline

The automated process generates consolidated spreadsheets containing top-performing articles, traffic source distributions, and section-level metrics. Additional datasets track new content performance, branded versus non-branded search traffic, leading search queries, and reader geographic locations. The complete automation setup required approximately two to three hours to configure and verify.

Prior to this implementation, content analytics were processed manually. Data from Search Console and PostHog were exported individually and fed into AI tools for analysis.
